Paint correction is also commonly used for new cars too
When you drive it off the forecourt, you’d expect your shiny new car to be as flawless as that new iPhone you’ve recently purchased. However, that’s seldom the case.
Most cars sit for days, weeks, months and sometimes even years before being sold, often getting hammered by the rain, snow, frost and sun. Then there’s the salty sea air it endured, just getting here from the factory, not to mention birds mess, floating crispy leaves and other hazardous elements that can cause damage.
Commonly, less-than-proficient dealership detailers don’t tend to help matters, often using cheap products and rapid-turnaround techniques. But regardless, a decent detail that incorporates a good wash and wax is the perfect first step. Adding a buff would be better for many cars that come with swirls. The best move, especially if you own a black or dark colour car - which usually highlights imperfections -would undoubtedly be to add Paint Protection Film (PPF) to the most vulnerable and exposed, front-facing areas from new, before you sustain any damage, no matter how minor.
